Chicano Park Day
Visual Arts
The 47th Chicano Park Day celebrates the spirit and history of this National Historic Landmark. In 1970, Chicano activists founded a small park underneath the San Diego-Coronado Bridge and filled it with colorful murals of Latin heroes.
This year's event honors founder and San Diego musician, Ramón "Chunky" Sánchez, who died in November 2016. The celebration also features indigenous and folkloric dancing, live music, a lowrider car show, art workshops and plenty of food.
