For most athletes, accomplishments that include being the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, might be laurels to rest a quiet retirement on. But not for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Since his basketball playing days ended, he’s been active in a number of social and political causes, he’s appeared in movies and TV shows. He was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. But most of all, he’s been writing.
The New York Times bestselling author, who has written more than a dozen books, is one of the featured speakers at this year’s Writer’s Symposium by the Sea at Point Loma Nazarene University.
Abdul-Jabbar joins Midday Edition Wednesday to talk about his passion for writing and his latest memoir, “Becoming Kareem.”
