Veterans Affairs rolls out $1 million ad campaign - In an effort to reach out to more veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Department of Veterans Affairs is launching its first ever television ad campaign to alert servicemembers to the benefits for which they're eligible. Pendleton Sgt. to face military's highest court - The military's highest court will hear arguments today in the government's appeal of a decision that overturned the 2007 conviction of Marine Sgt. Lawrence G. Hutchins III on charges of conspiracy and in the death of an Iraqi civilian. Hutchins has remained assigned to Camp Pendleton. Italy to withdraw troops from Afghanistan - Italy's minister said its 3,400 troops will have left the country by 2014, following the withdrawal of Dutch troops earlier this year and the Canadian decision to leave next year. Syria, Turkey express concern over continued deadlock in Iraq - Syrian President Bashar Assad noted that Iraqi political factions have failed to form a government nearly seven months after the elections.
