The violence in Helmand province, Afghanistan has taken the life of yet another Camp Pendleton Marine. The Department of Defense reports 22-year-old Lance Cpl. Norberto Mendez Hernandez of Logan, Utah died on July 10th in combat. He was assigned to Camp Pendleton's 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Hernandez is the 8th Marine from the 1/5 to die in Afghanistan since April, according to the Los Angeles Times. A total of 32 Marines have been killed in Helmand province since the start of April.
