Military Families May Soon Get Through Airport Screening Faster

A bill that would allow servicemembers and their families to get through airport security screening more quickly cleared its final congressional hurdle today. It's now awaiting President Obama's signature.

The legislation would affect members of the U.S. military traveling in uniform, and their families. Bill sponsor Rep. Chip Cravaak told Fox News:

If the bill becomes law, it will be up to the Department of Homeland Security to sketch out exactly what the expedited screening would look like. The DHS would have six months to come up with the new screening procedures.

As Home Post reported last month, the Transportation Security Administration is currently trying out an expedited screening system for the military at airports in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Minneapolis.
