Camp Pendleton General to Head Up Video Investigation

Lt. Gen. Thomas Waldhauser of Camp Pendleton has been tapped to head up the investigation into the controversial video that showed Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. The Los Angeles Times reports Waldhauser, commanding general of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command, is also the convening authority in the court martial of Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, who's accused of committing war crimes in Iraq.

The Marine Corps investigation is separate from the Navy's investigation.

Meanwhile, the commander of all NATO troops in Afghanistan has ordered new training for servicemembers in light of the video's content, according to the Marine Corps Times. Army Lt. Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti announced today:

The four Marines shown in the video have been identified, according to the MC Times, but their names haven't been released. They are assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
