The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council Pilot Program gives Marines the opportunity to earn certification recognized in the private sector based on the occupational skills they learned while in the military.
The goal is to make the transition from military to civilian life a bit smoother for the troops.
Cassandra A. Coney, an Education and Career Specialist with Personal and Professional Branch, Marine and Family Programs Division, Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps, told DVIDS News:
"The Marine Corps has partnered with the Manufacturing Skills Standard Council to pilot a program helping Marines in logistics and supply jobs to get certification recognized in the civilian workplace."
The pilot program started at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. It's now expanding to several test sites, including Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
