The dietary supplement OxyELITE has been banned from being sold at all Camp Pendleton base exchanges. The ban was triggered by a warning from the Centers for Disease Control that OxyELITE could cause acute hepatitis and liver failure.
Lt. Cmdr. Jennifer Wilkes, preventative medicine officer of I Marine Expeditionary Force, says the base acted immediately when the CDC issued its warning:
“The MCCS [Marine Corps Community Services] exchanges on Camp Pendleton got the instruction, Oct. 8, to pull the product.
"On Oct. 9, I verified that this product was not on the shelf of the Del Mar area exchange, the commissary, or the country store.”
