The ballots for some of San Diego's top elected positions are taking shape. Friday is the filing deadline for many county races.
Republican County Supervisors Bill Horn and Ron Roberts will each face multiple challengers in the June 8th primary election. Sheriff Bill Gore is being challenged by Jim Duffy and Jay LaSuer. There are four San Diego City Council seats up for grabs. On The Editor's Roundtable on KPBS, San Diego News Network's Barbara Bry said neighborhood issues will be most important to city voters.
"The park, the library, whether there's a pothole on their street," she said. "I'd like to see more people thinking holistically about the city as a whole and what it needs to be solvent. But I think people generally think about their neighborhood first. "
A candidate in the primary needs 50 percent plus one vote to win outright. If nobody gets that, the top two vote-getters in each race will have a runoff in November.
