California Secretary of State Debra Bowen is embracing Twitter as another way to share election results. She says the social media format allows Twitter followers to set the agenda.
California Secretary of State Debra Bowen says she first started using Twitter to report election results during the statewide special election in May of last year. She says she’ll continue the practice for this election.
“We will tweet selected results. That’s always been an interesting and popular feature. I find what’s happening now is that the Twitter community will tell us what results are most interesting.”
Bowen says she’ll start with something she finds intriguing and let followers take it from there. She says she’ll likely tweet the first election results from Los Angeles County. That’s usually a widely anticipated event because LA is so large.
Nearly 1,000 people are following the Secretary of State’s election information on Twitter.
