A City Council workshop on cutting red tape for San Diego businesses will be offered on Nov. 14, it was announced today.
Council members Tony Young, Kevin Faulconer and Lorie Zapf said they want to make it easier for businesses to expand and create jobs.
"As the backbone of our economy, local business owners know firsthand just how hard it can be to do business here, so hearing their suggestions and concerns will be invaluable,'' Young said.
The council members said they are looking for input from representatives of small and large companies on how to streamline the permitting process and reduce the numbers of rules and regulations that business operators face. Young said the city plans an extensive review of the rules in hopes some can be repealed or modified.
"Business growth and job creation is going to be the engine that drives our local economic recovery and I want to continue to do everything possible to help local businesses prosper and grow,'' Zapf said.
Faulconer said many of the regulations are outdated or inconsistent.
The Nov. 14 workshop is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the City Administration Building.
