A two-alarm fire heavily damaged two Spring Valley homes early Friday and left up to 10 residents displaced, authorities said.
Firefighters sent to the 1600 block of Tarleton Street near Blossom Road around 12:30 a.m. found the single-story side-by-side houses in flames, according to Cal Fire Capt. Kendal Bortisser. They immediately called for additional help.
Cal Fire crews reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. that the fire had been knocked down at both homes.
Bortisser said paramedics evaluated a couple of the displaced residents for possible smoke inhalation, but no one required hospitalization.
Investigators from the sheriff's department were summoned to determine the cause of the blaze. Bortisser said he expected them to remain at the scene throughout the morning.
Tarleton Street was temporarily shut down because fire trucks and other equipment were blocking the roadway, but it was reopened during the night, according to the sheriff's department.
