San Diego Shifts To Enforcement As COVID-19 Cases Spike
San Diego is wrapping up its first full week under the strongest COVID-19 regulations that are forcing many businesses to scale back operations. Part of the plan includes the San Diego County Sheriff's Department sending out teams of deputies to check on compliance and possibly issue citations. The Big Gift From Jeff Bezos
Amazon leader Jeff Bezos is parting with some of his fortunes by giving nearly $800 million to organizations doing important work in the fight against climate change. A $30 million chunk will go to San Diego’s Salk Institute. The Union-Tribune’s Gary Robbins joins us to talk about the promising local research and how the nation might deal with the threats posed by climate change under the Biden administration.

Major Mission Valley Development Approved
Riverwalk San Diego is moving forward in Mission Valley. The large-scale development will be built on land currently occupied by the Riverwalk golf course. It features thousands of new homes, a new trolley stop and plenty of green space along the San Diego River. KPBS reporter Andrew Bowen tells us about the city’s ongoing strategy of encouraging growth and development near transit and job centers.
