A San Diego-bound United Airlines flight that was diverted to Denver following a report of a suspicious device arrived at Lindbergh Field early Thursday.
United Airlines flight 1243 left Newark at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday and was scheduled to arrive in San Diego at 9:40 p.m. However, a passenger spotted something that looked suspicious, prompting the crew of the Boeing 737 to fly to Denver International Airport, according to FBI officials in Denver. Denver police were summoned as the passengers were bussed to the concourse, authorities said.
The flight was later deemed safe and whatever device prompted the detour was determined to be harmless. Officials did not immediately report what the "suspicious device" actually was.
The flight left Denver at 12:10 a.m. and arrived in San Diego shortly after 1 a.m., according to flight tracking website FlightAware.
