Teen Loves Film Adaptation of Twilight

Twilight finally arrives on the big screen (Summit)

By Shelby Iacometti

I first heard about Twilight (the film adaptation opened November 24 throughout San Diego) two years ago from one of my pen pals. She told me it was a great vampire romance. I thought it sounded totally cool, but then kept forgetting to go read it. But this summer the previews started running and I rushed to my friend and begged her to let me borrow the series. I absolutely loved it!! And now I can say I absolutely love the movie too.

The story starts out with Bella leaving her mother and step-dad to go live with her dad. At first there is the expected awkwardness about being new in the town where her real dad lives but she finds new friends by the end of the first day. But there was also someone who didn't really like her... Edward Cullen. He eventually warms up to her, especially after he saves her life from being crushed by an out of control car. Slowly he lets her into his life and she finds out his biggest secret. He is a vampire. But that doesn't stop her from falling for him. And he falls for her too, so it was very hard for him when a tracker (a type of vampire with excellent senses) catches her scent and makes her his next menu choice. Of course, Edward saves her from that danger too. But the tracker's "mate" wasn't too pleased about her lover being killed. Wonder what will happen in the next movie?

I loved all the actors and actresses chosen to play the characters. Like Kristen Stewart (Bella), Robert Pattinson (Edward), and Taylor Lautner (Jacob). Though some things were added and some were taken away, I believe the movie to be right on with the book.

She cites Taking 5, Cinderella, The Girl Next Door, Wicker Park and the Saw series as her favorite movies (but she says it was a tough call narrowing the choices to five).
