The woman who helped organize a controversial military breastfeeding photo shoot has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against her former employer. An attorney for Crystal Scott claims she was fired from job as an x-ray technician at Schryver Medical because of the media attention surrounding the photos.

In an email sent to media, Scott's attorney Pat Buchanan writes:

“The evidence and the timing suggest Schryver retaliated against Crystal for her work on behalf of women. Crystal is an advocate for gender equality and breastfeeding rights, and simply put – she was fired for it.”

Scott helped organize the breastfeeding photo shoot as part of her duties as volunteer Program Director for the Mom2Mom breastfeeding awareness campaign. As Home Post reported last month, professional photographer Brynja Sigurdardottir snapped shots of Air Force Reservists breastfeeding their children. Two of the women were breastfeeding in uniform, and that photograph (at the top of this post) prompted a media firestorm.

Schryver Medical has responded to Scott's claims of wrongful termination. President Jan Schryver said in a statement that Scott was fired because she conducted personal business on company time and with a company vehicle.
