New Findings Reveal How Women's Brains Differ From Men's

Maureen Cavanaugh (Guest Host): When a feminist writes a book about the differences between the male and female brains, she knows she's in for a bumpy ride. But that's just what neuropsychiatrist Dr. Louann Brizendine decided to do. After discovering that almost all of the clinical data in existence on psychology, neurology and neurobiology was focused entirely on male patients and test subjects, Dr Brizendine started the country's first clinic to study women's brain structure, function and mood.

She founded the Women's and Teens Mood and Hormone Clinic in San Francisco and introduced the research being done on female patients into clinical practice. The result is a book that seems to confirm some old stereotypes, but also puts a new spin on conventional wisdom.
