California's Lieutenant Governor is blasting California State University trustees for considering another plan to boost executive salaries. The trustees are meeting Tuesday and Wednesday to talk about the proposal. KPBS reporter Ana Tintocalis has more.
Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi is using his influence as a member of the CSU board to force a 'no vote' on the plan. If approved it would give the university's top executives a pay raise of up to $45,000. Executives have already received a 23 percent increase over the past couple years.
Garamendi says there's absolutely no reason for another hefty increase.
Garamendi : It’s unnecessary, it’s uncalled for and, taken together with a simultaneous action to increase student fees, it’s extremely offensive.
CSU trustees are also considering raising student fees by 10 percent. Garamendi believes the trustees are trying to rush the vote during this session before the governor signs legislation that limits the amount of money executives can make.
