Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego celebrated the opening on Saturday of a new outpatient pediatric campus in Murrieta, built to serve the region’s growing population.

“It’s the first time we’ve ever put up a building outside of San Diego County," said Donald Kearns, M.D., president and CEO of Rady Children’s. “We are really excited about being in Riverside County.”

Rady Children’s has offered some services in various medical buildings in Riverside County for two decades, Kearns said. But the new three-story, 62,000-square-foot facility off Interstate 215 provides primary care services and 15 specialty clinics under one roof.

Kearns said they surveyed families about their needs before construction began.

“And they wanted a place where we could treat kids with autism,” Kearns said. “So one of the really incredible things is we’re opening an autism center there.”

Other specialty services offered at the Rady Children’s Medical Plaza include cardiology, allergy and developmental health.

“In addition to just about every outpatient service you can imagine, from orthopedics to physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy,” Kearns said.

Starting in September, the new campus will offer Alexa’s Playful Learning Academy for Young Children, an early education program to stimulate physical, social, intellectual and emotional growth, including treatment for those with autism spectrum disorder. Future plans also include an urgent care facility.

Riverside County was recently ranked the third fastest growing county among large counties nationwide.
