A Shocking Exit From Afghanistan

The speed and thoroughness of the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan has been shocking. Scenes of chaos have continued all week, as desperate Americans, foreign aid workers and Afghans themselves have scrambled to get out of the country. KPBS military reporter Steve Walsh joined us to talk about the latest developments in Afghanistan, and what the fallout means to local veterans.

Booster Shots Coming Soon

Coronavirus cases in San Diego County continue to rise, as the state announces new regulations for large indoor events. Though the majority of cases associated with this latest surge remain to be from the unvaccinated, plans for COVID-19 booster shots are in the works. San Diego Union-Tribune biotech reporter Jonathan Wosen gives an update on the current plans for boosters, as well as the ethics surrounding them.

Learning the story behind the police killing of Fridoon Nehad in 2015 has been a long and winding road, one which reached at least some conclusion with the recent settlement of a lawsuit by Nehad's family.
