The rose gardens of Balboa Park are finally in bloom, though this weekend, their blossoms won’t be lingering in their beds – instead, they’ll be infiltrating the SDMA for its annual garden party, Art Alive.
The event, now in its 29th year, is a stylish take on the role of flowers in the art world, and challenges 100-plus florists to interpret classic canvasses via creative bouquets (think Madonna and Child, composed of peonies).
Doors open at 9 a.m. tomorrow for a day that includes a floral face-off between local arrangement artists, a trunk show, and a lily luncheon, but we’re most excited for the sun to go down so we can sip champagne amidst the daisies during Culture and Cocktails.
