Janus II: Dances Of Beginnings, Transitions, And Endings
Dance
San Diego Dance Theater Artistic Director Jean Isaacs presents "Janus II," a contemporary dance showcase named after the Roman god that looks both forward and backward.
Isaacs will premiere five dances inspired by photos from her family's albums, including snapshots with her grandparents and young children. She'll also present her critically acclaimed 2002 piece, "Rite of Spring," which takes place in a rave.
The program includes new world premiere dances commissioned by the San Diego Dance Theater from Gina and Kyle Sorensen and Trystan Loucado.

The Language of Things

San Diego Art Institute presents "The Language of Things," an eight-week exploration of art, music and technology by U.S./Mexico-based multimedia artist Roberto Romero Molina.
The exhibition mixes video, sound and found objects to create a multi-sensory experience.
The idea is that if you slow things down and listen, you can find a deeper connection to the world. There are several events planned as part of the exhibit, including a guided listening experience and a concert by Art of Elan

Rolston String Quartet
Music
As part of its Discovery Series, La Jolla Music Society presents the Rolston String Quartet.
This Canadian group has won prestigious music awards and is the quartet in residence at the Yale School of Music. These young players are precise, but stylish — you can sometimes find them reading music off of their iPads.
They perform a repertoire of Schumann and Beethoven, but find exciting ways to present this classical music.
