A special benefit screening will be held tonight of "The Dry Land," an atmospheric, powerful film starring San Marcos High School graduate Ryan O'Nan about a young veteran's struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the impact it has on friends and family. The film, which garnered special acclaim at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, screens tonight at 5:30 pm and 8 pm at the UltraStar Cinemas Mission Marketplace 13 Movie Theatre, located at 431 College Blvd., Mission Marketplace, in Oceanside.
Tickets are just $5, and proceeds will benefit Freedom Is Not Free and The Bob Woodruff Foundation, both non-profits that support wounded service members, veterans, and their families. O'Nan will be available for questions and a brief discussion of the film following the screening. The movie also stars America Ferrera ("Ugly Betty"), Wilmer Valderrama ("That 70's Show") and Jason Ritter ("The Event"). After seeing the film, you're invited to share your thoughts by emailing info@thedrylandmovie.com.
