After months of speculation, the British Ministry of Defence (that's how they spell it there) has confirmed Prince Harry is headed to Southern California for helicopter training.
The Associated Press reports Army Capt. Henry Charles Albert David Windsor (a.k.a. Prince Harry) will arrive at Naval Air Facility El Centro the beginning of October. He will participate in an Apache attack helicopter course. Oddly, I've had several female colleagues offer to go out to the base and report on his arrival...
Prince Harry is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan. According to the BBC, he spent 10 weeks fighting in Helmand province back in 2008 before the media leaked his top-secret deployment. British Army officials told the BBC they decided to bring him back to the UK once his location was known:
"This decision has been taken primarily on the basis that the worldwide media coverage of Prince Harry in Afghanistan could impact on the security of those who are deployed there, as well as the risks to him as an individual soldier."
