Operation Homefront has named 9-year-old James Nathaniel Richards a recipient of the 2012 Military Child of the Year® Award. Operation Homefront gives the award to a military child from each branch of the service, and James won for the United States Navy.
According to the Operation Homefront website, James lives in Jamul, California with mom Lorraine, and his dad - Chief Gas Turbine Systems Technician, Mechanical (GSMC) James R. Richards. He is the youngest of six kids. In fact at one point, three of James's brothers were deployed along with his father.
James is a blogger who documents what it's like to be a military kid. He also heads up an anti-bullying committee at school. If that wasn't enough...
Congratulations, James! You've packed quite a lot of good deeds in just nine years!
