Soldier From California Killed In Afghanistan Bomb Attack

Army Spc. Javier Sanchez Jr., 28, of Greenfield, California, died June 23 in Afghanistan.

According to the Department of Defense, Sanchez was killed while on mounted patrol in Sar Rowzah, Afghanistan, when his unit was attacked with an improvised explosive.

Sanchez was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum in New York.
