The Army is investigating the death of Sgt. Justin R. Rogers, who lost his life in a "non-combat related incident" on June 28 in Bagram, Afghanistan, according to a Department of Defense news release.
Rogers was from Barton, New York. He was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
The Pentagon has not released any additional details about Rogers' death.
WBNG-TV reports Rogers is survived by his parents, Stan J. Vicki and Teresa A. Vicki, a wife and a daughter.
June was the deadliest month for international troops in Afghanistan since September 2012, according to Stars and Stripes. At least 27 foreign service members were killed last month; 17 of those troops were American.
