During a week in which Governor Newsom and others from the West met with President Biden on wildfire strategy, the state is conducting outreach to underserved communities. Listos California talked with CBS 8 reporter Abbie Alford about its goal to meet people where they are and in a variety of accessible formats from social media to face-to-face interaction. California is dealing with drought conditions that elevate the risk for destructive wildfires this summer.

California’s Segregated Cities
A 30 year analysis of residential demographics show many U.S. metro areas are becoming more segregated. The research shows San Diego is among the metro areas where this issue has worsened. Beyond demographic representation, these trends also show uneven results in health, income and education with segregated communities of color having worse outcomes. LA Times staff writer Hayley Smith joins us to talk about the findings.
