The San Diego Chargers announced Thursday that sponsors have guaranteed the purchase of several thousand tickets for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, so the game will appear on local television.

The Chargers announced Tuesday that they were 5,000 tickets short of a sellout. The National Football League requires all but a stadium's most expensive seats to be purchased 72 hours before kickoff, otherwise, the contest is blacked-out in the team's home television market.

CBS8, Union Bank, Donovan's Steak & Chop House, the Sycuan Band of Kumeyaay Indians and the Brigantine Family of Restaurants stepped in to make sure the game, scheduled for 1 p.m., will be broadcast in San Diego.

The tickets will be donated to youth through STAR/PAL, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, the Jackie Robinson YMCA and the Armed Services YMCA.

"We're grateful for the support from our corporate partners," said Chargers Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer A.G. Spanos. "Their support is making it possible for families from our local military bases to enjoy a great experience at the game Sunday. Their actions are also making it possible for everyone at home to see the team play."

The Jacksonville game is the Chargers' second contest this year at Qualcomm Stadium and comes two weeks after a 30-21 victory over defending Super Bowl champion Seattle, played in front of a boisterous and sold-out crowd.

One Chargers home game, a 17-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in November, was blacked out last year.

A few tickets remain available. They may be purchased by logging onto www.Chargers.com, calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or visiting the Chargers Ticket Office located at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium.
