Two women and a teenage girl were found dead on Monday in a home near the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Course in a possible double murder-suicide, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies responding to a report of possible child abuse at the upscale house on Via de la Valle near Paseo Delicias made the grim discovery around noon, officials said.

After spotting one of the lifeless women through a kitchen window, the deputies forced entry into the home and found the other two bodies in separate rooms, sheriff's Lt. Kenneth Nelson told reporters.

It was unclear how the three died, though they each had suffered "obvious trauma," Nelson said. He declined to elaborate.

"We are still trying to determine a motive," he said. "We're still trying to determine a relationship."

Investigators were "fairly confident" there were "no other suspects outstanding in this case," Nelson said.

The county Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause and manner of the deaths.

The names of the deceased were withheld pending notification of relatives
