San Diego County's Airport Authority today looked at what changes need to be made to Lindbergh Field so it can best serve passengers over the next ten years. KPBS reporter Beth Ford Roth has the story.

The Authority is developing an Airport Master Plan to address how Lindbergh will prepare for its projected growth through 20-15. Even if the Authority Board selects a new airport site and voters approve it, it would take at least ten years to build.

The Master Plan proposes expanding Terminal Two with ten new gates, and building a new parking lot and structure.

Board member Paul Peterson would also like to see problems with lost and late luggage addressed in the master plan.

Peterson: We do have I think a world-class airport, perhaps not world-class in baggage handling.

Some estimates show Lindbergh Field could reach its capacity within ten years. Beth Ford Roth, KPBS News.
