Governor Schwarzenegger Signs Global Warming Legislation
Last week, Governor Schwarzenegger signed a bill that requires industrial polluters in California to cut greenhouse emissions. The bill-signing ceremony in San Francisco had a bizarre touch. At one point the head of Tony Blair appeared on a huge video screen with San Francisco Bay in the background. The British PM Prime Minister praised the Governor and the legislation as his head appeared to bob in the waves of the windy bay.
The greenhouse gas bill requires industrial polluters to cut their greenhouse emissions back to 1990 levels by the year 2020. That’s an estimated 25 percent reduction. One of the Democratic backers of the bill is San Diego Assemblywoman Laurie Soldana.
