Rachel Bloom

Theater/Comedy

One of the best shows on TV right now is "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," co-created and starring comedian Rachel Bloom.

Bloom combines risqué comedy with social commentary that results in songs like "The Sexy Getting Ready Song." Along with the CW TV show, Bloom has a collection of YouTube videos and two live musical sketch comedy shows, “Bloom is a Triple Threat!!!” and “Sing Out, Louise.”

The San Diego Center for Jewish Culture presents an evening with the 2016 Golden Globe-winning actress featuring her comedy and musical satire.

Details: 8 p.m. Saturday. La Paloma Theatre, 471 South Coast Highway 101, Encinitas. $25; find tickets.

Tijuana has long had a flourishing art scene, especially when it comes to murals and street art.

Adventurous art fans can join Turista Libre for an up-close tour of Tijuana's street art with one of the city’s star graffiti artists, Buho Villamil.

Villamil will join this guided expedition, which will stop at his murals around the city, as well a visit to his Tijuana studio.

Tickets include round-trip border transportation, tacos at one of the city’s star taquerias, and en-route drinks and snacks.

Details: The group meets at the pedestrian San Ysidro Point of Entry at 1 p.m., with an estimated return to the border at 8 p.m. A passport is required to cross the border. Find tickets.

Well-Strung

Music

Well-Strung is a singing string quartet that fuses classical music with pop songs.

Think Kelly Clarkson songs played on the violin and Beethoven classics delivered with flair. The New York City-based quartet also has a teen heartthrob appeal thanks to its flirty and fashion-forward musicians. A classical music boy band, if you will.

Moonlight Cultural Foundation welcomes Well-Strung for a concert that promises everything from Taylor Swift to Johann Sebastian Bach.

Details: 8 p.m. Saturday. Moonlight Amphitheatre, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive, Vista. $20 to $55; find tickets.

Frida Kahlo Art Show

Visual Arts

Celebrate Frida Kahlo's birthday with an art show and costume party.

Kahlo, who was born on July 6, 1907 and died July 13, 1954, is considered one of Mexico’s greatest artists. So La Bodega Gallery will celebrate all things Frida with art, music, food and a look-alike contest.

Find San Diego's best arts events on the KPBS/Arts events calendar.

You can dress up like the artist, or just come watch. The entry fee is $1 and you can sign up at the event. There will be both an adult and child contest. Throughout the night you'll also be able to pose in a Frida photo cut out and see works by local artists inspired by Kahlo.

Details: 4 p.m. Saturday. La Bodega Gallery, 2196 Logan Ave., Barrio Logan. Free; more information
