Time is running out to send holiday cards. The U.S. Postal Service said if you want cards delivered on time, you will need to send them as first-class mail by Tuesday.
This week is the Postal Service's busiest week of the year, where they expect to deliver nearly three billion pieces of mail nationwide. For San Diego, that makes for a busy holiday season.
"Between Thanksgiving Day and New Years Day, we are expecting to process here in San Diego County 10 million packages and 340 million pieces of mail,” said USPS Spokeswoman Eva Jackson.
If stamped letters are not sent out by Tuesday, they might not make it before the holidays.
"It really depends on where you’re mailing it," Jackson said. "If you’re mailing it in San Diego County to San Diego County, it will get there by Christmas. If you’re mailing it across the country, it may not get there by Christmas."
The deadline for retail ground shipments was Dec. 14.
After Tuesday, the only way for packages and letters to arrive before Christmas is by using priority mail or priority mail express. The deadline to ship with priority mail is Dec. 20, while priority mail express is December 22.
