A dry afternoon is expected Tuesday following the early winter storm, but more frosty weather is on tap for Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
In the 24-hour period ending at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, automated gauges recorded .42 of an inch of rain at Harbison Canyon; .32 of an inch in Flinn Springs; .31 of an inch in Lakeside and Alpine; .28 of an inch in the San Diego Country Estates; .25 of an inch at Miramar; .24 of an inch in Santee and at Montgomery Field; .22 of an inch in Ramona; .20 of an inch in Dulzura, according to the weather service.
Less than two-tenths of an inch of rain fell in other county areas.
Light snowfall was reported above 3,500 feet, and an inch of snow accumulated on Mount Laguna.
The bulk of the storm system moved out of the region Monday evening, but the rain continued Monday night in some inland areas, according to the weather service. Drier, more seasonal conditions are expected Wednesday.
"High pressure will build into the Great Basin through Saturday forcing dry, gusty offshore flow through and below the passes and canyons and warmer days west of the mountains," according to the weather service. "Overall, the weather will be dry and seasonal over the holiday weekend."
Forecast high temperatures Tuesday will still be on the cool side, with highs of 5 to 10 degrees below normal. Predicted highs for Tuesday are around 60 degrees near the beaches, around 59 degrees in the western valleys and in the deserts, 49 to 54 degrees near the foothills and 44 to 51 degrees in the mountains. Temperatures a few degrees higher are in the forecast Wednesday for areas other than the deserts.
But forecasters said nighttime conditions will be cold and the nights will be cold, and frost may develop in some areas. Overnight lows will be 32 to 42 degrees at the coast, 28 to 38 degrees in wind-sheltered valleys, 35 to 43 degrees in warmer valley locations, 24 to 34 degrees in the mountains and 30 to 40 degrees in the deserts.
