On Sunday, opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai pulled out of Zimbabwe's presidential runoff election. On Monday, he sought refuge in a foreign embassy. Later that day, South Africa, Russia and China joined the rest of the United Nations Security Council in a resolution that denounced the election violence in Zimbabwe, and today, U.S. State Department spokesman Tom Casey said that the world would reject the results of Friday's election if Robert Mugabe declares himself re-elected as president. President Mugabe declared: "The West can scream all it wants. Elections will go on."
