This weekend brings some theatrical and pop culture reunions, as well as an evening of meditative noise
"Love Never Dies"
Theater
Did you know there’s a sequel to Phantom of the Opera? There is, and it's called "Love Never Dies."
The story reunites Christine and the Phantom about 10 years later in New York. Only now the Phantom works at a carnival and Christine has a husband and son.
Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this show is an over-the-top spectacle, filled with circus freaks, heightened drama and breathtaking costumes. It can be overwhelming, but also entrancing.
Details: 7:30 p.m. p.m. Friday; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. San Diego Civic Theatre, 1100 Third Ave., downtown. $22.50 to $110.50; find tickets to "Love Never Dies."
Hand Of God
Music
Hand of God is an event that gathers experimental and noise musicians to perform reflective compositions in an old chapel.
It features guitarist Bill Orcutt, gong artist Tatsuya Nakatani, Monochromany and other local artists. There will also be a dystopian sermon, a performer who will sing your sins - left anonymously in a box, and tarot card readings.
Details: 6 p.m. Saturday. North Chapel, 2881 Roosevelt Road, Liberty Station. Free; find additional information.

"Best F(r)iends"
Film
Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero, the duo that brought you the notoriously bad movie "The Room," have reunited for a new movie, "Best F(r)iends."
The movie, which isn't a continuation of "The Room," will be screened in two parts. Volume one (Friday and Monday) sees a drifter (Sestero) and a mortician (Wiseau) become friends, run cons and get caught up in trouble. Volume two (out in June) takes the friends out on the road.
Details: 8 p.m. Friday and Monday. Various San Diego movie theaters. $12.50; find locations and tickets to "Best F(r)iends."
