Mojalet Dance Collective opens its summer dance series at The Bernardo Winery with California Rhythm Project's TapRoots.
This professional tap company celebrates dance by tap pioneers like Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, the Nicholas Brothers and James "Buster" Brown. It will also include works by California Rhythm Project founder Pam Thompson-Spinner, a salsa-inspired tap and a new piece by Arthur Duncan.

Break out your Aqua Net hairspray and spandex leggings for Cygnet Theatre's production of "Rock of Ages." The Tony-nominated jukebox musical celebrates 1980s hair metal.
Relive rock hits by Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, Styx, Journey and many more in this story about Drew, a musician who wants to make it big on the Sunset Strip, while also trying to win the heart of Sherrie, a girl who recently moved to Los Angeles from Kansas.
The local production will have a bar on stage where you can purchase drinks before the show and at intermission. And '80s dress is highly encouraged, especially on Fridays when you'll get a free glow bracelet for showing up in costume.

Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes returns to San Diego for a headlining tour aptly titled, "The Tour."
The 20-year-old musician got his start by posting song covers on social media. After signing with Island Records he has dominated the radio with hits like "Stitches," "There's Nothing Holding Me Back," "Treat You Better" and more.
Expect to hear songs from Mendes' three albums during the show, some performed on acoustic guitar. And, yes, he still performs cover songs. Alessia Cara opens the show.
