The Department of Defense has released the names of three soldiers killed in Afghanistan on October 13 in three separate incidents.
Spc. Brittany B. Gordon, 24, of St. Petersburg, Florida was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device. She was assigned to the 572 Military Intelligence Company, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
Also assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington was Sgt. Robert J. Billings, 30, of Clarksville, Virginia. He was killed in Spin Boldak, Afghanistan from an improvised explosive device blast. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Sgt. 1st Class Ryan J. Savard, 29, of Sierra Vista, Arizona was shot to death in Khanabad District while on patrol. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
