The Navy is investigating why one of its helicopters crashed in Japan on Monday. Two of the four crew members inside the MH-60S Knighthawk were injured when the helocopter was forced to make an emergency landing 10 miles southwest of Yokosuka Naval Base, according to Stars and Stripes.
Commander Naval Forces Japan officials told the military newspaper that the Knighthawk crashed after sending a distress call at 3:31 p.m. local time.
The two injured crew members were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries as of Monday night.
The helicopter is assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 12, based at Naval Air Facility Atsugi.
