The Board of Supervisors is in the process of adopting a nearly $5 billion budget for the next year. The budget already calls for nearly $400 million in cuts. But Supervisor Jacob says the state could take hundreds of millions more.

"It could mean another hit of up to $800 million to our county. I mean we’re talking about something close to Armageddon if that happens,” she says.

Jacob says that could mean the closure of parks, libraries and public assistance offices. She says the current proposed budget would not make large cuts to public safety and services. Jacob says she’d like to know what the state is going to do as soon as possible so the county can account for it and still adopt the budget by the end of June.
