New polling shows a tightening recall race for governor, exploring political extremism in east county, and an update on the COVID-19 situation in San Diego.

What’s The Latest With The Recall?

A new poll out this week shows the recall might not be such an easy climb for California Governor Gavin Newsom. UC Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies found, among those who are most likely to participate, a slim majority want Newsom to stay in office. Here Come The Masks Again

From the White House to local colleges, we’re seeing a flurry of moves that might make the wearing of protective face coverings more commonplace as communities try to deal with the surging COVID-19 delta variant, which was first detected in India. Even those who are fully vaccinated are being asked to mask up in indoor settings. New CDC data show even vaccinated people can become infected and transmit the virus to others. Despite that, the surge in new infections and hospitalizations is largely affecting those who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine. The San Diego Union-Tribune biotech reporter Jonathan Wosen updates us on the evolving situation in San Diego.
