Thursday, October 13, 2011
Aired 10/14/11 on KPBS Midday Edition.
Carl Ekstrom is a pioneer in surf industry and has held the patent on asymmetrical surfboard design since the 1960s. He's also an artist whose work is in a new exhibit at the Mingei International Museum.
Dave Hampton is the curator of "San Diego's Craft Revolution: From Post-War Modern to California Design.
"San Diego's Craft Revolution" opens on October 16th at the Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park.
Last week, we had curator Dave Hampton on our TV show "Evening Edition" to talk about the new Mingei exhibit. Hampton has written about San Diego's mid-century art scene for Culture Lust in the past. He recently provided us with a handy list of things you should know before going to see "San Diego's Craft Revolution."
