Mind Travel is a silent hike up Cowles Mountain where hikers, called Mind Travellers, wear headphones and are guided through a meditative journey with music. It was created by composer and pianist Murray Hidary.

Imagine being guided through a meditative journey with music while hiking along a nature trail.

One composer and pianist, Murray Hidary, offers that experience through what he calls a silent hike.

Hidary, founder of the company Mind Travel, is hosting a silent hike at Cowles Mountain Sunday. As they hike, participants will wear wireless headphones and listen as Hidary composes live music inspired by the sounds of nature.

"This is a very introspective and reflective experience," Hidary said. "Together that combination, the music and nature, is so powerful."

Hidary joined Midday Edition Wednesday to talk about how silent hikes can help people connect with themselves and the world around them.
