PATI'S MEXICAN TABLE is a food-driven series starring chef, author and mom to three boys, Pati Jinich. Part travelogue, part cooking show, each episode follows Pati as she explores the food, culture and history of Mexico, and brings those experiences back to her kitchen where she creates simple, mouthwatering recipes for every home cook to enjoy.
Episode 1: “Tijuana's Culinary Revolution” Encore Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m. on KPBS TV - Pati is in one of Mexico’s most up and coming food destinations, Tijuana, where she spends the day with some of the young, fresh talent taking part in Baja’s exciting culinary movement.
Episode 2: “Tijuana: Stories From The Border” Encore Saturday, April 8 at 3 p.m. on KPBS TV - Life on the border is a melting pot of cultures and cuisines that creates a unique culinary scene like no other, and Pati dives deep to get the real story of what life and food are like on the border.
Episode 3: “Ensenada’s Epic Seafood” Encore Saturday, April 15 at 3 p.m. on KPBS TV - Pati eats her way through the port of Ensenada, a hub for seafood exportation where fresh fish is everywhere you look. She also visits the oldest bar in Baja, and originator of the margarita, Hussongs.
Episode 4: “Baja Breakfast” Encore Saturday, April 22 at 3 p.m. on KPBS TV - In Valle De Guadalupe, Pati visits one of the legendary cooks in the area, Doña Esthela, whose restaurant is known for serving up one of the tastiest breakfasts in the world.
Episode 5: “Mexican Wine Country” Encore Saturday, April 29 at 3 p.m. on KPBS TV - People are traveling from all over the world to discover the new and exciting wine region of Valle de Guadalupe, where Pati samples some of the local wine varietals and catches up with old friends at one of the Valle’s oldest wineries.
Episode 6: “Loreto: Baja’s Hidden Gem” Watch now with the PBS App - One of Baja’s best-kept secrets, Pati virtually steps back in time in Loreto, a small town on the Gulf of California with a rich history and one-of-a-kind dishes only found here.
Episode 7: “La Paz: The Heart of Baja Sur” Watch now with the PBS App - In the crystal clear waters off Baja Sur’s breathtaking capital, La Paz, Pati swims with whale sharks, then satiates the appetite she worked up with some must-eat local food.
Episode 8: “Road Trippin’ with Javier Plascencia” Watch now with the PBS App - One of the region’s most celebrated chefs, Javier Plascencia, gives Pati a tour of the Baja he knows and loves before they make their way to his newest restaurant, Jazamango.
Episode 9: “The Godmother of Cabo Cuisine” Watch now with the PBS App - Pati spends the day in Los Cabos with local legend Edith Jimenez, who worked her way up from waitress to living out her dream of owning the restaurant. Edith uses recipes from locals to preserve the area’s culture and history, so she takes Pati to the small town of Miraflores to experience the traditional dishes for herself.
Episode 10: “Los Cabos by Land & Sea” Watch now with the PBS App - Along with Chef Guillermo Gomez of Cabo’s luxurious Esperanza Hotel, Pati sets out into the Sea of Cortez to reel in the catch-of-the-day that they will later grill up beachside.
Episode 11: “New York” Watch now with the PBS App - Pati is invited to cook a special Cinco de Mayo dinner at the prestigious James Beard House in New York, then she visits three Mexican-American chefs in the city who are using food as a way of pursuing their dreams in America, creating their own successful businesses, and honoring traditional Mexican recipes and ingredients.
Episode 12: "Photographic Food Memories” Watch now with the PBS App - Friends and family always tell Pati she has an extraordinary photographic food memory, so she decides to recreate some of her most favorite food memories in her own kitchen and give the stories behind the dishes.
Episode 13: “Mex’d Up American Regional Favorites” Watch now with the PBS App - Pati’s passion for travel doesn’t stop with Mexico, she also has a soft spot for her travels in the USA. She’ll put her Mexican spin on some regional American favorites to surprise her three sons.
