Navy SEAL Gene "Geno" Clayton Jr. died Saturday morning after his family removed him from life support, according to the UT-San Diego. Petty Officer 3rd Class Clayton had been hospitalized at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla since Thursday after he accidentally shot himself in the head while demonstrating to a woman he met in a bar that the gun was unloaded.

Clayton is survived by his parents, Gene and Kimberly, and three sisters. He grew up in Boardman, Ohio and attended Boardman High School.

The 22-year-old recently graduated from Navy SEAL training and had just been assigned to a special warfare unit this month.
