Medicare recipients who sign up for drug plans may not know that the plans are rejecting claims when doctors prescribe drugs for uses other than those approved by the Food and Drug Administration. It has happened with painkillers and cancer drugs, and it can be devastating since the drugs in question are expensive. Now an advocacy group is suing Medicare to make it pay for drugs that doctors may prescribe for any use.
