California is dealing with the effects of climate change on several fronts. To the north, a string of large, destructive wildfires have been burning for the past couple of weeks. In San Diego, the city just experienced the fifth hottest July on record. At the federal level, an effort to address climate change took a hit when the Trump administration announced its intention to end a policy that allows California to set more aggressive fuel emission standards.

Rep. Duncan Hunter Criticizes Department Of Justice
Congressman Duncan Hunter recently spoke on the house floor to accuse the Department of Justice of being run by partisan lawyers and career officials who intend to cripple the Trump presidency. Meanwhile, his opponent, Ammar Campa-Najjar, picked up an endorsement by former President Barack Obama. Presidential politics will be an issue in this race, with less than 100 days until the general election.

The Padres’ Slow Rebuild
Fans of the Padres celebrated one of the organization’s best players last weekend as relief pitcher Trevor Hoffman was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
