The Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma is closed because of the government shutdown, according to an announcement on the National Park Service's website.
"Due to the lapse of appropriations and the subsequent shutdown of the federal government, Cabrillo National Monument is closed for the safety of visitors and park resources," the announcement says.

Cabrillo is one of several national parks across the country that are closed. Others include Fort McHenry National Monument in Maryland and the Fort Pulaski National Monument in Georgia.
Other national parks including Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and Yosemite National Park in California are open but may reduce staffing and may not have open restrooms or other facilities.
