4.0 Earthquake Reported In Julian

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake shook the Julian area but apparently caused no damage or injuries, authorities said.

The quake struck at 8:18 p.m. Monday 14 miles east-southeast of Julian, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The agency also reported five aftershocks, centered between 14 and 15 miles east-southeast of Julian, with a magnitude of 1.6 at 8:24 p.m., 2.0 at 8:31 p.m., 1.5 at 8:36 p.m., 1.5 at 9:53 p.m. and 2.5 at 10:08 p.m.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said it had not received any emergency calls about the temblors.
